The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden Port Augusta is an admission free open space area where people can relax , enjoy and learn about their environment. The picnic area currently consists of three table and seat settings in an open space area. By providing a covered area it will provide the local community and visitors an area which protects them from the elements unlike the current situation which can only be utilised in perfect weather conditions. Current visitation numbers to the Garden are approximately 96,000 visitors per year.

This is a brilliant project and a would be a huge benefit for the garden. The garden is a fantastic place to visit to see arid land plants especially eremophilas. They have an extensive display of eremophilas that look brilliant when in flower and they also attract so much birdlife to the garden. Its a fantastic place to visit and the Café has a wide variety of food to tempt you. Its a great day out for all ages.
