A discus cage is desperately needed in the southern athletics hub in the CBD to allow city schools and athletics clubs to safely practice discus. There are already four throwing circles on the oval in park 20 and if one had a cage it would provide a safer environment for children and the general public. Some children as young as 10 can throw 30 metres, and teens up to 50 metres. Without a cage there is the risk of an errant throw hitting bystanders & passersby. The cage would meet competition standards, be professionally installed and fitted with anti-vandal covers.
