Our community hall roof needs replacing. The constant exposure to sea air has and continues to cause corrosion and this has compromised the integrity of the roof. The roof is currently at a stage where there are leaks that need addressing and more will appear as the roof deteriorates. The Hall is used by our small town & farm community continually for school functions, meetings, group activities, community social gatherings and visiting service providers. Our much used and loved hall remains for us an enduring memorial to those from our district who gave their lives in the two World Wars.

This Hall is used frequently by all members of our small community it is imperative that it is maintained to a high standard so as it may continue to support our very valuable community into the future.

Without a waterproof roof, the floor will deteriorate. The cost of repairs to the roof and floor will be much higher, and probably deemed uneconomic. Very few public buildings can be operated at a profit and maintenance requires some help from the wider community

I think the hall at Port Neill is a very important community asset, which most residents use at one time or another. Maintenance is imperative to preserve it in good condition for continued community use, for many years to come.
It's all very well to start new community projects, but we must maintain our current assets first.

As this War Memorial Hall is our designated Emergency Refuge, it makes sense to maintain it in good order to protect our Residents, and those from surrounding areas e.g. in case of Bush Fire.
